(Video) DISGRACE at Goodison Park as Aston Villa stars are struck by bottle thrown from crowd

Two Aston Villa players were struck by a bottle thrown from the crowd while celebrating their opening goal against Everton at Goodison Park.

Villa midfielder Emi Buendia, who is not renowned for his aerial prowess, stole a march on the Everton defenders by making a shrewd near-post run and lopped his header over Jordan Pickford and into the back of the net.

The Villa players gathered in front of the Everton supporters to celebrate, but unfortunately, the mood quickly soured as Matty Cash and Lucas Digne collapsed to the turf after being struck by something thrown from the crowd.

The projectile which did the damage was a Lucozade bottle, but it wasn’t the only object thrown in their direction during their celebrations. Multiple objects were thrown by presumably multiple supporters.

Thankfully, there was no lasting damage done to any Villa players, but Everton need to mobilise immediately to remove the offenders from the stadium and never let them back in. It’s absolutely abhorrent behaviour.
