According to the Daily Mail, Aston Villa are ready to snub both Manchester United and Manchester City January bids for club captain Jack Grealish.

Grealish has been on the radar of several top clubs but the England international isn’t expected to go anywhere during the January transfer window.

Grealish signed a new five-year deal last summer earning the playmaker £140,000 per week after Manchester United chose not to meet Villa’s £80million asking price.

The 25-year-olds new contract has a significantly higher buyout clause meaning it will cost any interested parties in the region of £100 million to buy Grealish.

Grealish has been long linked with a move to Old Trafford but according to The Independent, Manchester City are now the frontrunners to sign the Aston Villa maestro.

It seems Pep Guardiola has urged City to sign Grealish following a glowing recommendation from his own playmaker Kevin de Bruyne.

“I rate him very highly,” said De Bruyne. “He’s somebody I mentioned before, talking to the teammates at City, in a random conversation.

“In England they talked about creative problems in midfield, but he brings that to a team. He deserves a shot.”

So far this season Grealish has managed to produce five goals and seven assists in 15 matches to help his club to eighth in the table.
