Arsenal’s and Chile striker Alexis Sanchez has been accused of tax evasion in Spain from his time at Barcelona, with claims that the public prosecutor has opened an investigation over allegedly ‘actively withholding’ taxes.
According to El Periodico (A Barcelona based newspaper), the Chilean is accused of attempting to defraud the Inland Revenue of €983,443 during his time with the Catalan giants from 2011-2014.
If found guilty Sanchez could face a prison sentence after accusations that he withheld taxes from his image rights.
Sanchez is also accused of pretending to transfer image rights to an offshore company, based in Malta, called Numidia Trading.
