The two VAR officials who incorrectly disallowed Luis Diaz’s goal against Tottenham on Saturday have been removed from their duties.

The incident occurred during Spurs’ 2-1 win against Liverpool on Saturday evening. The game itself was filled with controversial moments, with Jurgen Klopp’s side finishing the match with only nine men after Diogo Jota and Curtis Jones were both sent off.

But the most controversial moment occurred when Diaz had his goal ruled out for offside even though he appeared to be clearly on.

It was confirmed after the game that the VAR officials had made a mistake and were confused by the on-field decision. They thought that the original ruling was onside and instead of instructing the referee that the goal should stand, they said “check complete”.

It has now been revealed that both officials, Darren England and Dan Cook, have been removed from their duties for the remaining games this week.
