America has a pretty shit record when it comes to chants but they’ve only gone and outdone themselves at the Ryder Cup with a new contender for worst chant ever.
Sky Sports did an interview with a group of Team USA fans dressed as Uncle Sam Vikings and they have constructed a chant to the tune of ‘Country Roads’ that can only be described as a car crash for the ears.
We haven’t been able to find a the clip of the Team USA fans singing it but the lyrics go like this:
“Take me home, Ryder Cup, to the place, I belong, USA, all the way, take me home, Ryder Cup“
We’re not the only ones to recognise the awfulness of the song as Twitter lit up with people slating the failed attempt at an inspiring tune.
"Take me home, #RyderCup, to the place, I belong, USA, all the way, take me home, Ryder Cup" – why no-one likes American sports fans

Those American Vikings have possibly the worst chant in #RyderCup history. Also, do they know Vikings are of Scandinavian origin? #geography

It’s not the only shit chant on display at the historic golf event tough as the infamous ‘I believe that we will win’ chant has been heard also in the stands at Hazeltine.
They believe in Team 3…. #RyderCup pic.twitter.com/xLwBKMeaEZ
