It has been claimed by Swedish outlet Expressen (relayed by Daily Mail), that the footballing superstar previously obtained a hunting license which he later used to shoot wild lions.

Ibrahimovic’s live hunt is said to have taken place in South Africa where wild trophy killings are legal, provided the correct licenses and permits are held by the hunter.

Expressen claim that the lion the AC Milan striker shot dead had spent over 12-months trapped in an enclosure before it was released into the wild.

Upon its death, Ibrahimovic is then said to have paid for the animal’s remains, including it’s head to be shipped back to his home in Sweden – presumably for display purposes.

Ibrahimovic has frequently referred to himself as a ‘lion’ throughout his playing career – however, it’s fair to say that should Expressen’s report be accurate, the striker has well-overstepped the mark.

The Swedish newspaper claim to have contacted Ibrahimovic for comment but as of yet, have received no reply.
