Zlatan Ibrahimovic believes it’s ‘already written’ for former teammate to win the World Cup

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has claimed that Lionel Messi is destined to finally lift the World Cup trophy.

Argentina made it to the semi-finals after a nervy and chaotic penalty shootout win against the Netherland last weekend. The game brandished moments of magic like Messi’s pinpoint assist for Argentina’s first goal but also produced some less savoury events.

The referee issued 18 yellow cards throughout the game, a world record and a major indicator of how rough the match was. But despite a late and heroic Dutch comeback, Argentina prevailed and now find themselves opposite Croatia in the semi-finals.

Argentina are of course the favourites but a lot of people are predicting a closer matchup then what one would have predicted before the tournament. That is everybody except Ibrahimovic, who claimed that Messi will lead his side to World Cup glory.

‘I think it’s already written who will win, and you know who I mean. I think Messi will lift the trophy, it’s already written,’ Ibrahimovic said in an interview while in Dubai.

The AC Milan striker also gave credit to Morocco, who are on the other side of the draw, stating that their impressive performance was not surprising.

‘I don’t think it’s a surprise because I knew they were good before the World Cup. Then obviously in the World Cup everything can happen,’ he said.

‘That they reached the semi-final, maybe a little surprised, but remember it’s a good team, a good nation. And these surprises I think the people like; they enjoy because they want these things to happen so they get some kind of extra adrenaline.’

Do you think that it’s already set in stone for Messi and his World Cup dream?
