Switzerland star Alisha Lehmann has been given a personal bodyguard during the Women’s Euros.
The 26-year-old is one of women’s football’s most high-profile players off the pitch, and she has a huge fan following on social media.
She has been heavily criticised recently for her lack of game time.
Lehmann got only nine minutes of action during the tournament for her country, but the Juventus forward is given security protection after being trolled by vile fans.
Her 16.8m Instagram followers keep track of her posts regularly.
Sven Micosse, a press spokesperson for the Swiss women’s national team, has revealed that private security has been hired as a result.
Speaking to Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet, Micosse said: “We always ensure that the safety of the players is our top priority in all stadiums.
“This is organized by UEFA during the tournament, and our head of security is always on site.
“After the matches, he is always there when the players approach the fans, and due to Alisha Lehmann’s fame, he sometimes accompanies them a little further.”
Lehmann, dubbed ‘the world’s sexiest footballer’, has unfortunately been subject to abuse as a result of her rising profile.
