The World Cup in Qatar & in the winter – the world will be watching..

With just under a month to go until the biggest sporting event in the planet kicks off in Qatar we look ahead to see who we reckon could end up winning the biggest trophy in football.

There’s a lot of club football to be played between now and then, so a lot of players will be praying they don’t pick up any injuries to rule them out. Already the French and Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante is ruled out having to go for surgery on a hamstring injury.

That’s a massive blow for the defending Champions, but they should have their other talented midfielder Paul Pogba back just in time. It’s going to be quite surreal having a 2022 World Cup in the Middle East and in the middle of the winter.

There’s a lot of questions being asked of how did this get the go ahead etc.. But we’re nearly there now and we’re very much looking forward to a crazy few weeks of football, between now and Christmas.

For the unversed, there are 32 participants in every FIFA World Cup. The nations are divided into 8 groups of 4 teams each and the 2 best teams qualify for the Round of 16. The tournament proceeds in a single knockout match setup from thereon.

Who do we reckon will make it out of each group:

  1. Brazil
  2. Argentina
  3. France
  4. Belgium
  5. Spain
  6. Germany
  7. England
  8. Croatia

There’s our eight and if you get to the quarter-finals anything can happen, your only two games away from a final and the World Cup odds can really be in your favour. Injuries will play a massive part, as they always do in any sport. Can you imagine if Leo Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo picked up an injury prior or during the tournament.

You really have to fancy the teams with the big squads, that’s why particularly England and France have a massive advantage with the depth of talent they have in their squads. having said all that, you can only put eleven players on the pitch.

I’m putting my money on Argentina to go all the way anyways, the current Argentina team is probably the best they have had in a span of almost a decade and with the current form they are in, this is probably their best shot at winning the title for the 3rd time in history and would’t it be very fitting for the best player ever to play the game to finally get his hands on the biggest prize in World football.
