Deontay Wilder names two fights he wants following explosive ring return

Deontay Wilder has named two fights that he wants next after triumphing over Robert Helenius.

Wilder made an explosive return to the ring, finishing Helenius with one of his trademark right hands. He is one of the hardest-hitting boxers ever to have lived and we were reminded of that on Saturday night.

The American is automatically propelled back into world title contention upon his return and it doesn’t look as though he’s going to afford himself much time to shed any lingering ring rust.

Following last night’s victory over Helenius, Wilder named two fighters that he wants to tussle with next, and they’re a current and former heavyweight champion of the world.

He’s quoted by talkSPORT’s Michael Benson saying, “I’m down for whatever. Whether it’s Andy Ruiz or Oleksandr Usyk. Deontay Wilder is back, the excitement in the heavyweight division is back.”

Wilder’s stock has not been damaged at all by the defeats he suffered in his trilogy with Tyson Fury. If anything, it raised his international profile even further.

We can’t wait to see what he does next, and whether it’s Ruiz or Usyk he finds himself in the ring with, you can guarantee that there are going to be fireworks wherever he goes.
