UFC fighter Paddy Pimblett explained in a recent interview why the he won’t be supporting England at the World Cup.

The lightweight is currently preparing for his fight against Jared Gordon, at UFC 282 next weekend. But in a recent interview on the Pub Talk podcast, the Scouse had time to talk about football and why he doesn’t support the English national team.

“I don’t really follow international football. I don’t care about it, it’s ruined the season,” he told Alan Brazil and Ray Parlour.

“Scousers just aren’t into international football. We don’t see why we should stand arm-in-arm with fans who sing, ‘Always the victims,’ week in, week out, and sing about 97 dead fans,

“It’s disgusting. What’s the other one? ‘Feed the Scousers,’ and that. Why should we support England? I’ve seen a video of England fans singing, ‘We all hate Scousers.’ Why should we support England?”

Pimblett has spoken about the Hillsborough disaster on several different occasions and even dedicated his UFC debut win to the 97 people who lost their lives in 1989.

If the Scouser can beat Gordon in their co-main event face-off next weekend, then he will be one step closer to finally challenging for the belt
