Why Cristiano Ronaldo has been forced to wave goodbye to £5m – and it’s all Man United’s fault

Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is due to miss out on a whopping £5m in bonuses as a result of the Red Devils’ dismal campaign.

Ronaldo rejoined Man United with the intention of delivering the Premier League title. If he had anticipated how the season would go for his former side, you’d think he would probably have signed for Manchester City instead.

Man United are now guaranteed to finish the season without a trophy to show for it, which is unheard of for Ronaldo, even if it has become the norm for the Old Trafford club in recent seasons.

Ronaldo will have been hoping to end the season with trophy-winning glory, not only to fill up his impressive trophy cabinet even further, but also as he’d be guaranteed a HUGE windfall as a result.

As is reported by The Sun, Ronaldo will be forced to surrender as much as £5m in bonuses as a result of Man United’s failure to deliver any sort of trophy-winning success in the 2021/22 campaign.

Of course, his children are not going to go hungry, with Ronaldo being one of the best-paid sportsmen on the planet, but it must be tough to wave goodbye to that kind of cash, no matter the circumstances.
