The Netherlands and the United States of America kicked off the Qatar World Cup Round of 16 this afternoon, with Louis van Gaal’s side advancing to the quarter-finals, as goals from Daley Blind, Memphis Depay and Denzel Dumfries secured a 3-1 with for the three-time runners up of the competition.
It was a mature, sensible performance from the Dutch, and during the game, the cameras picked up a lovely moment after Blind made it 2-0 for his side.
As the former Manchester United defender swept home from a Dumfries low cross, he ran straight to the touchline to celebrate with his father Danny, an Ajax legend and now one of Van Gaal’s assistants alongside Edgar Davids.
