Doubts emerge over Man United loanee’s future with Old Trafford return mooted as possibility

Jesse Lingard may be set to return to Manchester United this summer, with West Ham struggling to afford his wages.

That’s according to the Daily Mail, who report that there is concern at the London Stadium over the club’s finances, with Lingard’s £100K-a-week salary, combined with the inevitable transfer fee if he were to sign permanently, potentially a bridge too far for the Hammers.

Lingard has been a revelation since signing for West Ham on loan back in the January transfer window. His stellar performances have been a considerable contributor towards David Moyes’ men launching an unlikely assault on the Champions League spots.

Jesse Lingard has been sensational for West Ham since joining in January.

The 28-year-old has also forced his way back into the England squad, a meteoric rise back to his best level which will ultimately do West Ham no favours in their efforts to keep him around this coming summer.

The Daily Mail believe that Lingard could head back to Man United to see out what remains of his contract before moving on. Losing him would be an immeasurable blow to West Ham’s hopes of challenging again next term.
