FURY vs WHYTE scrapped: WBC deny British fight fans mouthwatering bout

Big news in the heavyweight division… according to The Sun, Dillian Whyte will NOT get his WBC title shot against Tyson Fury.

Whyte was presumed to be the WBC mandatory challenger, with a fight against heavyweight champion Tyson Fury expected to have been ordered after the deadline passed for The Gypsy King to arrange a unification bout with Oleksandr Usyk.

Fight fans were eagerly anticipating Whyte finally getting his world title shot, and against compatriot Tyson Fury on British soil. It was a mouthwatering prospect, but one that is not going to come to fruition.

As is reported by The Sun, there has been no resolution found by the WBC for Whyte to challenge for Fury’s belt, despite the supposed appetite of both fighters. It could now be months before a fight is ordered.

It’s an enormous blow for Whyte, who has had to remain patient for his opportunity to fight for a world title, while Fury is also understood to be keen to get back into the ring as soon as possible.

We can only hope that the WBC get their act together and give the fight fans what they want, irrespective of their ill feelings towards Whyte or concerns over scrutiny within the boxing community.
