Former England and Premier League striker Michael Owen finished second on his debut as a jockey in a charity race at Ascot.
The 37 year old who played for Liverpool, Real Madrid, Newcastle and Manchester United was one of 10 amateur riders to take part in the seven-furlong contest in aid of the Prince’s Countryside Trust.
Owen was briefly in front after making a move rounding the home turn, but ultimately finished in the runner-up spot behind Golden Wedding.
