The former Republic of Ireland international, now 36, reckons the goal for Exeter against Stevenage was the best of his career.

It was his first goal for Exeter and his first in any game since his goal for Colchester against Gillingham in League One back in January 2014 – a 50-game drought.

“I’ve scored some good ones at Crystal Palace and for the Ireland,

unbelievable ones, but that’s got to be the best,” Morrison told BBC.

“I didn’t think at 36 I could get my legs that high. I’m buzzing.”

“I know now I’ll start scoring goals – I’m confident, I just needed that first goal.

“I haven’t scored a goal for a year and a half. I’ve been in the right areas but the ball hasn’t really been dropping for me, so it’s frustrating.

“I’ve been a goalscorer throughout my career, but for the last three or four years it hasn’t worked out for whatever reason.

“I’ll be the first one to say I could probably have done better, but today it fell for me, I managed to score and I could have had another one which maybe on another day I would have scored. But I’m happy with that, just disappointed with the result.”

The match finished 3-3.
