Bad news for Australian rugby this morning with the news that The Melbourne Rebels will no compete in the Super Rugby next season .. See the news below with some of the comments underneath ..

Very sad. Hope the players get the support through this. As a fan it’s sad Rebels won’t be there.

Thank you to every Rebels staff member and player for the joy you have given me, my family and friends over the last 14 years. I haven’t missed a single home game. The way you have conducted yourselves under huge adversity is incredible. I will miss you massively. 💙💔

The Rebels died years ago. They’ve been given life line after lifel ine but didn’t fix anything, continued to run with poor operators and did not engage with their market.

Gutted for our ex Saints players, all great guys, Proctor, Salakaia-Loto and Kellaway. Hope they all find clubs in time for new season be it in SH or NH.

Farewell good friends. If Melbourne knows what is good for her one day sometime down the track she may dig deep, pass the hat around and rekindle the excitement of live Rugby on the banks of the Yarra. Until then @MelboureRebels, god speed.
