Video: Gordon Strachan narrating Wenger’s sending off against Manchester United is comedy gold

If you need something to cheer you up today then we think we may have the thing for you.

Let’s go back to August 2009. It’s United v Arsenal at Old Trafford and Arsené Wenger’s team are trailing 2-1.

Arsenal think they’ve just equalised only for Robin van Persie’s late leveller to be ruled out seconds after the ball hit the net.

Wenger – clearly frustrated by the decision – kicks a water bottle down the touchline in disgust and that should be that, but no, Mike Dean has got other ideas.

Dean gives the Arsenal boss a red card and sends Wenger to the stands and what happens next is one of the most memorable images captured at a United v Arsenal game.

There is nowhere for Wenger to sit in the stand and the Gunners boss could only stand with his arms wide apart as United fans around him clapped and cheered.

Despite losing that day the Frenchman certainly earned the respect of the Old Trafford faithful after this cheeky episode with the officials.

Now – that leads us onto Gordon Strachan. The fiery Scot was doing analysis for the game on the BBC and Strachan was tasked with explaining the scenes after the game.

Strachan was more than up to the job and what he produced can only be described as comedy gold as he had everyone in the studio in fits of laughter. We hope he does the same for you. Enjoy.
