The Uruguay players weren’t happy with referee Daniel Siebert’s officiating after their win against Ghana.
Uruguay has gone crashing out of the tournament after a South Korea win against Portugal pushed them down to third place. Their 2-0 victory over Ghana wasn’t enough, they missed out because South Korea had a better goal difference by one.
Uruguay thought that they had been given a lifeline when striker Edinson Cavani went down in the box, claiming to be fouled. It seemed everyone on the pitch was convinced that it was a penalty, except for the referee who waved play on.

If Uruguay had been given this penalty, they would have been given the chance to go through to the knockout rounds! 😬

When the final whistle was blown, a hoard of Uruguayan players flocked to the officials, almost attacking them.
This just got incredibly ugly.
Uruguay players immediately surround the referee after the full-time whistle.
