“Oh no…” – Sky Sports News studio’s hilarious reaction as Chelsea goal costs punter £250K

Emerson Palmieri sealed Chelsea’s progression to the Champions League quarter-finals with his only kick of the game against Atletico Madrid – but it proved to be a very costly kick for one Sky Sports Super 6 punter.

With last night’s second-leg clash between Chelsea and La Liga leaders Atletico entering the final few minutes, Thomas Tuchel, taking the mick, decided to bring two left-backs onto the field, Ben Chilwell and Emerson Palmieri.

While it was quite clearly a ploy to prevent Atletico from building any momentum and a chunk of injury time, it actually proved to be a tactical masterstroke, with Emerson scoring a fine goal to ensure Chelsea would be in Friday’s draw.

Ordinarily, a 94th minute goal of significance by an English side in the Champions League would warrant a bit of a celebration from the Sky Sports News studio, but it was a head in hands moment for Tim Sherwood, who was following the contest.

Emerson scored a rare goal to take Chelsea safely through in the Champions League,.

That had nothing to do with Sherwood’s past affiliation with Tottenham, either, rather just moments before the goal they were discussing how a Sky Sports Super 6 punter needed all scores to remain the same in order to win £250K.

After Emerson found the bottom corner of Jan Oblak’s goal, you have to imagine the person who missed out on such a great deal of cash reacted something like this himself, only amplified…
