Watch the moment Sir Alex Ferguson congratulated Erik Ten Hag in the tunnel after Manchester United’s Carabao Cup victory yesterday.

Ten Hag led United to their sixth League Cup in their history and their second since Sir Alex retired in 2013 and the two were spotted engaging in a warm embrace after the trophy celebrations.

Ten Hag was greeted by former Manchester United executive David Gill, former chairman Martin Edwards and of course the club’s owner Avram Glazer, but it was his interaction with Ferguson that got everyone talking.

The pair both had beaming smiles on their faces and shook hands, before going in for the hug that so many United fans were desperate to see.

Nobody thought the club would be in this position back in August when they lost their first two games of the season.

Rival fans were calling him “Erik Ten Weeks” at the start of the campaign, could it now be “Erik Ten Years”? If the club continue in this vain, who knows?
