West Ham have been awarded their second penalty of the game but it will be the first one they are actually allowed to take after VAR reversed the referees decision in the 5th minute. This will not be reversed though as it’s the clearest penalty of the season with Sheffield’s Chris Basham producing a tackle you would usually see in the Six Nations.
Jesse Lingard has found form since leaving Manchester United and has proved to be a serious threat for West Ham’s attack with Basham feeling the need to take Lingard out in stead of allowing the English midfielder a shot on goal.
Referee Simon Hooper was left with no choice but to award the penalty and no VAR was going to help Sheffield United here.
Declan Rice then stepped up to the spot before slotting the ball into the back of the net like a seasoned pro.
