Shane Lowry can do more than just golf as he demonstrated with his hurling skills on a frosty morning earlier this week.

The Offaly man is no stranger to the GAA, his dad Brendan Lowry, played Gaelic football for Offaly’s senior team in the 80s. Lowry is still an avid supporter of his county and returned to his local GAA club earlier in the week.

A lot of people poked fun at Lowry, including Scottish golfer Robert MacIntyre, who plays Shinty for Oban Celtics when he’s not on tour.

MacIntyre appeared to challenge the Offaly man to a crossover game when the two meet on tour in Abu Dhabi next month.

“Aye decent take them to Abu Dhabi,” MacIntyre wrote under Lowry’s Instagram post.

There is a correlation between the two sports, which dates back to 1896. The Shinty–Hurling International Series is held every year which sees the best from both Ireland and Scotland face off.

Do you think a competition between the two would ever happen?
