Rory McIlroy had an absolute stinker at the WGC Matchplay in Texas, having driven his shot into a swimming pool, via a pretty awful bounce.
McIlroy was defeated by Ian Poulter in the opening group game at the WGC Matchplay, and all due respect, it’s no great surprise when he’s hitting shots as bad as this one.

Everyone who’s ever played a round of golf will be able to relate to McIlroy’s struggles here. The pursuit of an extra few yards can oftentimes end in disaster, and it has here for the four-time majors winner.
For those who were fearing that McIlroy was beginning to lose his magic touch, this will do little to allay those fears.
Watch as McIlroy’s drive takes an almighty move to the left, an unfavourable bounce, and eventually finds its way into a swimming pool. That hasn’t exactly come off as the Northern Irishman planned, has it?
