Rory McIlroy had a first-round to forget at the Masters, one which was capped off by him striking his own father with a golf ball.
The four-time major winner, who has never won the Masters and worn the famous green jacket, doesn’t look as though he’s going to be doing it any time soon, having endured a nightmare first day at the tournament.

One moment which epitomised just how much of a rotten first round the Northern Irishman was enduring was when McIlroy somehow managed to strike his own father direct-impact on the leg.
Considering it was a wayward shot, one which did McIlroy no favours, its actually hugely impressive that he’s managed to hit his own dad from such a distance.

McIlroy’s dad will probably have been left with a bruise after the incident, but one no bigger than was inflicted upon his son’s ego after the poor day that he suffered through on Thursday.
