(Video) Cristiano Ronaldo brands Belgium ‘lucky’ during post-match embrace with Thibaut Courtois

During a brief conversation with Thibaut Courtois after Belgium’s 1-0 win over Portugal, Cristiano Ronaldo branded his opponents ‘lucky’ to have got the victory.

Ronaldo is one of the best players on the planet, mostly due to his unbelievable footballing ability, but his rock-solid mentality has also had its part to play.

The Juventus forward is a winner, and winners don’t tend to enjoy losing. Unfortunately for Ronaldo, he did taste defeat against Belgium at Euro 2020 last night.

Being a winner – and a sore loser – the first thing that Ronaldo told Thibaut Courtois during their post-match embrace was that the Belgians were LUCKY.

Perhaps he’s got a point, with Portugal hitting the post, Courtois making a few decent saves and Ronaldo not having the rub of the green, but Belgium were good value for their victory.

If it were Portugal who scraped through by a single goal, having remained resolute throughout, you have to imagine Ronaldo wouldn’t take kindly to the win being branded lucky.

But that’s just the point, isn’t it? It wasn’t Portugal. Belgium may have been lucky, but they’re through to the quarter-finals of Euro 2020, and Ronaldo isn’t.
