Cristiano Ronaldo – how have you missed? The Portugal superstar fluffed his lines just a few yards from goal during his side’s opening Euro 2020 fixture.

Ronaldo, who captained Portugal to glory at Euro 2016, will be hoping to do the same this summer, with the group he has along with him significantly stronger than the one which triumphed five years ago.

With Portugal joined by France and Germany in group F, Ronaldo and co will be well aware that they need to take all three points from this fixture if they want to have any chance of progressing.

However, the two nations headed into the half-time break on level terms, with Ronaldo having had a golden opportunity to find the back of the net and failing to take advantage.

Bruno Fernandes delivered a superb cross into the Hungary penalty area, with the ball bouncing up just before reaching Ronaldo and the Juventus striker being deceived by it.

Ronaldo blazed over the bar from a position where you’d bet your house on him scoring. Oh dear…
