Matt Doherty will have no excuse for being sent off today against Leeds, Jose Mourinho’s side were absolutely cruising against Marcelo Bielsa’s side at 3-0 up at home. They were in complete control and with lest than 9 seconds left to play Irishman Matt Doherty earned himself an early exit from the game. I’m sure he wasn’t half way down the tunnel before the ref blew the final whistle so we can’t work out why he would put in such a rash challenge on Pablo Hernandez.
Doherty started the match and is surely trying to prove that he is a more stable option at left back than Serge Aurier but this play from Matt will only put more doubt in the mind of the Special One. Maybe Doherty has just been spending too much time with Serge in training, it can be the only explanation for this behaviour.
