Paris Saint-Germain’s Marco Verratti is one of the best midfielders in the world, this we know, but it turns out he’s even more versatility talented than we first thought.
For years Verratti has been performing at a world-class standard for PSG, both domestically and in Europe. We are probably guilty of under-appreciating him at times.
Not only is Verratti a wondrous central midfield player with boots on and a ball at his feet, but he’s not bad either in his socks.
Playing a Champions League semi-final in your socks is hardly recommended, even if it is for a brief moment, but Verratti was forced into doing so after being fouled by Kevin De Bruyne.
Verratti realised his boot had come undone under challenge from De Bruyne, so decided to take the free-kick without it, with PSG chasing an equalising goal late in the game.
For a boot-less player, that’s not a bad pass at all, is it?
