Lionel Messi’s face lit up when he saw that Sergio Aguero would be presenting him with his man of the match award after Argentina’s semi-final win.
Argentina dispatched off Croatia quite handedly in their World Cup semi-final on Tuesday, walking away 3-0 winners. Messi was of course the catalyst behind everything good that they did, scoring a penalty and grabbing an assist with an incredible dribble.

As was expected, the 35-year-old was handed the man of the match trophy which to his surprise and delight was presented by Aguero.
The two have a budding bromance that dates back years, as you can see by the Messi’s reaction.

Aguero is no longer able to play professional football, he was diagnosed with a heart condition a year ago and hasn’t stepped onto a pitch since.
He is no doubt living every single moment of the game with his teammates. A video emerged of the former Manchester City man closing his eyes and looking away during the game, as Messi strode up to take the penalty.

Argentina will now play France in the World Cup final on Sunday, a game which will require a near perfect performance.
Luckily Julian Alvarez has stepped up in Aguero’s stead, chipping in with two goals in the semi-final. Argentina will be hoping that he can step up again on Sunday with a big performance.
