Leicester City centre-back Wesley Fofana was stretchered off the field of play during his side’s friendly with Villarreal last night after breaking his leg.
Fofana, who was just 19-years-old when last season began, was a key figure in Brendan Rodgers’ squad which won the FA Cup and secured a fifth-place finish in the Premier League.
The Frenchman was all set to continue his development in the season coming, but in a cruel twist of fate, is set to be ruled out of action for a considerable period of time.

A pretty disgraceful challenge from Villarreal’s Fer Niño – which ought to have seen him sent off regardless of whether it was a friendly – left Fofana’s leg twisted and the player on a stretcher.
It’s not for the feint-hearted, so if you’re planning on eating any time soon, we’d recommend closing the tab and coming back to it this at a more appropriate time…
Why on earth are players tackling like this in a pre season ‘friendly’???
Get well soon Fofana 💙 pic.twitter.com/aFbuihqlXz
