(Video) Kasper Dolberg strikes first for Denmark with fine effort to leave Wales with work to do

Denmark have taken the lead over Wales in Amsterdam, and what a finish it was from Kasper Dolberg.

The Danes, with all that they have endured this tournament, headed into their final group game without a point. However, with an emphatic, dramatic victory over Russia, and things going their way in the other group fixture, Denmark progressed.

A clash with Wales awaited in the next round, with the Welsh reaching the knockout stages of the European Championships for the second time on the bounce. They will have hoped for the same result – a victory – but they’re behind.

The Wales defence stood off Dolberg as he pondered having a strike towards goal. The 23-year-old had pondered enough, striking towards goal and finding the corner of the net in some style.

Wales have work to do if they want to keep their Euro 2020 hopes alive. As for Denmark, it’s a miracle that they’re even still here – so huge credit to them for battling on and showing their quality.
