Wilshere has signed a short-term deal with Championship side Bournemouth after impressing while training with the club.

Wilshere was without a club after he left West Ham in the summer of 2020. The 29-year-old had been training with ‘The Cherries’ in a bid to improve his fitness as he seeks out a new club – which he did.

The 29-year-old has signed a short-term contract until the end of the season and he will wear the number 11 shirt.

It seemed on the cards that Wilshere would sign after Bournemouth after manager Jason Tindall told talkSPORT that he was so impressed with him in training he’s considering offering Wilshere a short-term contract with the Championship side.

Tindall said: ‘Jack’s still training with us, he’s training well, he’s looking sharp and it’s really good to have him.

‘It’s a situation we’ll keep monitoring in the next week or two and we’ll see where Jack’s at, and what we feel as a club in terms of what would be the best thing moving forward.

‘Whenever you’ve got a player of Jack’s quality training with you and you’re able to have a closer look, it would be foolish to say there’s not a chance of wanting to do something.’

Wilshere won’t feel out of place though as he had a loan spell with Bournemouth back in the 2016/2017 Premier League season.

He made 27 appearances and ‘The Cherries’ who finished ninth that season – the highest finish in the club’s history.

Wilshere had previously considered a move abroad with America’s MLS or Spain’s La Liga looking like the favourable destination. West Brom were also reportedly interested in securing his signature.

Thankfully for Bournemouth the creative midfield chose them and he has become their first signing of the season.
