Emiliano Martinez controversially placed his Golden Glove trophy by his genital area moments after being awarded the trophy.
As football fans, we have come to expect these kinds of moments from Martinez. His crazy celebrations, penalty antics, and general ‘housery’ of a certain kind have entertained fans for many years now. And this is another one to add to the list. The stage, the context and the man himself all combined to make this moment extremely opinion-dividing.
Martinez placed the award by his genital area and gestured towards the crowd. just seconds after receiving the trophy from the Qatari officials. As a country, Qatar tends to keep personal sexual matters private, so a gesture in this manner is incredibly out of place.

Some fans believe Martinez deliberately disrespected the culture of Qatar. Whilst others simply say that the Argentine keeper was being himself and entertaining the crowd. He does appear to be a good person, so it is unlikely that there was any real malice behind his actions. Although, it more than likely angered many of the Qatari officials.
