Check out this wonderful video of Hollywood actor Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson surprising his lifelong friend – Bruno Lauerwho – by giving him a brand new car while he visited the set of Johnson’s television show ‘Young Rock.’
Lauerwho who is better known to WWE fans as Harvey Wippleman – thought he was visiting for a good old fashioned catch up but the eight time WWE champion (Dwayne Johnson) had other ideas.
For those of you who do not know, Lauer took The Rock in when he was 15 years old as it was not always possible for young Dwayne to live with his father as he toured across America wrestling at various shows.
Johnson recalled the story of how he and Lauerwho ended up living together in a touching, heartfelt Instagram video where he said: “Meet one of my lifelong friends, Bruno Lauer – or I prefer to call him, ‘Downtown Bruno’.My mom and I were evicted off the island of Hawaii and I was sent to Nashville, Tennessee to live with my dad.
“When I landed in Nashville, I quickly found out I wasn’t gonna live with my dad. S*** happens, plans change and that’s the way it goes. Instead, I told I was gonna live with a guy named Bruno. Who at the time lived in a tiny room at a spot called the Alamo Plaza motel,” recalled Johnson.
“Bruno could’ve (and should’ve) said ‘hell no, I’m not takin’ in some kid who I don’t know’. But he didn’t.
“He took this punk kid in and we became lifelong friends.”
The Rock clearly never forgot Lauerwho’s generosity and selflessness and decided to give back to a man who helped him so much by gifting him with a brand new vehicle, which retails for approximately $34,000.
Lauerwho was clearly delighted with the gift and Johnson was more than happy to give something back to the man gave Johnson ‘his last $40 bucks so I could hustle a crackhead out of his car one night at a honky tonk in Nashville.’
