Germany exited the World Cup group stages for the second tournament in a row, as a win and a draw was not enough for them to advance to the knockout stages.
After their elimination was confirmed yesterday evening, a Qatari journalist was quick to post a picture of the national team covering their mouths in protest against the banning of the One Love captain’s armband by tournament organisers before their opening group match against Japan last week.

And Qatari TV didn’t hold back in continuing to mock the Germans’ exit from the tournament, with presenters covering their mouths while waving live on air this morning.

There have been many moments where fans have tried to force their beliefs onto the Qataris in the past fortnight, but the host nation will feel they have won the moral battle for now, as Germany were sent packing.
