Footage has revealed why Lionel Messi was so aggressive in his post-match interview yesterday.
Lionel Messi didn’t hold back in his post-match press conference after Argentina’s dramatic win over the Netherlands. Whilst giving an interview in Spanish, the 35-year-old turned his attention to someone off-camera and began to verbally insult them.
“What you looking at, idiot? Go on, f*** off over there.”

It has now been revealed that the person he was insulting was none other than Holland’s, Wout Weghorst. In behind-the-scenes footage, the striker can be seen arguing with Argentina players as Messi shouts at him from the background.

The contest between the two nations was fiery, to say the least, and continued after the final whistle. Weghorst scored two dramatic late goals to send the contest to extra time, something that the Argentina players obviously weren’t happy with.
Argentina will now face Croatia in their semi-finals after the European side shocked the world by knocking out favourites Brazil on penalties in the earlier kick-off.
