But they managed to pull it back thanks to a stunning Bukayo Saka strike before Phillip Coutinho restored the home sides lead.
Arsenal then came out in the second half and dominated the game, Oleksandr Zincheno scored Arsenal’s second and his first with a beautiful strike just outside the box.
The Gunners then kicked it up a gear with Jorginho putting his side ahead for the first time in the game, his effort coming off the crossbar before bouncing in off Emiliano Martinez.
They then sealed the win when Vieira played in Martinelli who simply ran the ball into an empty net after the Aston Villa goalkeeper went up for a corner.
The Portuguese midfielder’s reaction after playing the pass was brilliant, he dropped to his knees and celebrated long before his teammate was close to the goal.
