Alvaro Morata missed a golden 1v1 chance for Spain during their goalless draw with Portugal yesterday evening.
While La Roja are not considered one of the favourites to win the Euro 2020 tournament, they do still boast a huge amount of talent within their ranks, Juventus forward Alvaro Morata being one player who could make the difference.
Football fans like to make a mockery of Morata, with his dismal spell at Chelsea certainly doing him no favours, but the fact remains that, on his day, he can be an effective frontman.
Unfortunately for Morata, he was unable to make the difference for his country on Friday night, as Spain were held to a 0-0 draw by Portugal – but it wasn’t because he didn’t have the chance to do so.
Morata did race towards goal, 1v1 with the goalkeeper, but failed to find the back of the net, striking the crossbar with what was comfortably the best chance of the whole contest. Oh dear.
