Both fighters, who are arguably at the end of their fighting careers, will be saddened to hear that they’ve been cut from the UFC.

Dos Santos, 37, who has lost his last four fights would have been expecting to receive the call informing him his services are no longer required.

However, despite being 40-years-old, ‘Demolition Man’ Overeem could perhaps consider himself unlucky to be cut.

Although recently suffering a devastating knockout at the hands of fellow contender Alexander Volkov, Overeem has still won two of his last four fights.

Never the less, top-tier mixed martial arts is a results business and if you’re not performing to the highest level, you’re getting cut.

The news that both heavyweights have recently been cast aside was confirmed by MMA Junkie.

It is not yet known what each fighter has lined up for the future, but Dos Santos has hinted he could still pursue a career in fighting elsewhere.
