Yan, 27, who boasts a near-perfect professional record of (15-1) has held the 135lb belt since his vacant title win against all-time great Jose Aldo last summer.

The impressive Russian boxer’s next bout is scheduled to take place at UFC 259 where he will meet number-one contender Aljamain Sterling.

UFC 259 is scheduled to take place on March 6 and is already shaping up to be one of the most stacked cards in recent times.

However, reflecting on the top-tier promotion’s first PPV of the year, Yan, who spoke to James Lynch has weighed-in on the recent loss suffered by Conor McGregor at UFC 257.

McGregor headlined UFC 257 as he faced-off against fellow contender Dustin Poirier.

Despite coming into the bout as the bookies’ overwhelming favourite, McGregor couldn’t contain Poirier’s devastating calf kicks and was eventually TKO’d in the fight’s second round.

When asked for his thoughts on the Irish superstar’s recent performance, Yan said: “Yeah, I saw that Conor became fat and old!”

Ouch.
