The hotly anticipated mega-fight between British heavyweight boxers Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury is on and all agreements have been settled according to Bob Arum via The Sun.
Bob Arum, Tyson Fury’s American promoter told IFL TV there are finally no issues left to be resolved in negotiations for The Gypsy Kings showdown with Anthony Joshua.
The 89-year-old confirmed that the duo and are now signing their contracts for the fight with an official announcement imminent.
The news has come as bit of a surprise as only last month Fury said the blockbuster fight with Joshua was no closer to being arranged than it was a year ago.
Speaking to ESPN Fury said: “They’ve had a full year to try and make this fight happen. It is what it is. We’re no further forward today than we were a year ago,”
“The way it is at the moment [with Covid-19], I don’t think it has got much to do with the fighters. It’s to do with the venue, date, place, site fees. It’s to do with everything but the fight itself.”
It now seems that all parties are satisfied with the terms of the bout which will see the two heavyweight champions clash later this year.
Joshua currently holds the IBF, WBO and WBA belts and a fight between the pair would see all four belts contested in a heavyweight fight for the first time in decades.
It’s been 22 years since an undisputed world heavyweight title fight took place when Lennox Lewis faced Evander Holyfield way back in 1999.
