Twitter reacts to Ireland’s victory over Canada

Ireland kicked off their 2015 Rugby World Cup campaign with a convincing 50-7 win over Canada that puts the side in good stead ahead of the Romania match next week.

It was all very easy for Ireland in the first half but the Canucks made things quite difficult for parts of the second.

All told, it was a good day for Joe Schmidt and his charges and a plucky performance for Canada who can be happy with their efforts.

From confused Canadians to One Direction members complaining about commentary, here’s how Twitter reacted in its own very unique way.

Ireland were awesome at times

Poor Canada struggled to cope

Paul O’Connell wasn’t happy about being sin-binned

Niall Horan wasn’t happy either …. with the commentary on ITV

There’s always a smarty pants or two knocking around on Twitter!

Some people couldn’t watch the game but were keeping a sneaky eye on the action

The Irish ex pats in Canada were keeping the flag flying

Rugby players are real men, don’t you know!

Some of the poor Canada supporters were lost as to what was going on!

But when they got a try everybody got a little excited!

It’s hard to impress some people

But let’s not get carried away now

And the award for the most dedicated (and cutest) fan goes to….

….while the award for the best rugby player name ever goes to John Moonlight!
