Thomas Tuchel has refused to rule out signing Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United this summer.
After Ronaldo failed to report for Man United pre-season training, amid a flurry of reports that he was keen on leaving the club, you sensed that we had a good old-fashioned summer transfer saga on our hands.
To make it all the more dramatic, Manchester United do NOT want Ronaldo to leave this summer, especially to another Premier League club, so the club legend may have to force their hand if he wants to get his wish.
Chelsea were one side that were closely linked to signing Ronaldo, but reports this week suggested that the club had decided to end their interest in the Portguese superstar.
If that is the case, someone ought to tell Thomas Tuchel, because he dodged the question while quizzed over the possibility of bringing Ronaldo to Stamford Bridge this summer.
If Chelsea really weren’t interested in signing him – wouldn’t he just say ‘no’?
