The transfer market is coming at best moments, with slower times than usual due to Euro 2020 which “blocks” the realization of some deals. But negotiations go on between clubs and agents, as always.
The hunt for a top striker…
Chelsea will certainly buy a new striker but no decision has yet been made. Borussia Dortmund are hoping to keep Haaland, while as mentioned Lukaku is not on the market at the moment. Pending a final decision on the new club for Tammy Abraham who wants to have more space, AC Milan asked Olivier Giroud for free after reaching an agreement on personal terms with the French forward.
Manchester City have made an official £100million offer for Harry Kane, but Tottenham have no plans to accept. Even the willingness to include players in the negotiation does not convince President Daniel Levy that he really wants to try to hold Kane back. The alternatives are just as difficult, because Romelu Lukaku wants to stay at Inter where he said he was “happy”. Of course, Man City intends to try again for Kane after Euro 2020.
Tottenham’s manager search…
Speaking of Tottenham, it is surprising that two months after Jose Mourinho’s sacking there is still no new manager, a choice that will still be important for Kane’s future. The attempts for many managers did not go ahead for several reasons: Antonio Conte was not convinced to return to coach after a few weeks from leaving Inter, Ajax renewed Ten Hag’s contract, with Fonseca the problems were of fiscal nature.
Finally, the Spurs fans complicated Rino Gattuso’s arrival and so Levy chose another path. Now the list includes several managers, nothing is definitively decided yet; Nuno Espirito Santo is welcomed by the new director of football Fabio Paratici, he is one of the candidates and the frontrunner as of today. Ernesto Valverde was also contacted more than a week ago.
Man Utd’s plans after Sancho…
Jadon Sancho is finally close to Manchester United after more than a year of negotiations with Borussia Dortmund. Something is still missing, details on which there is optimism to arrive soon at the final agreement. Liverpool never made any offers to buy him, there was an interest but only in case a star had left. Jadon has always prioritized Manchester United and now the deal can really be imminent.
Then it will be time to buy a centre-back, where Raphael Varane is the first choice but it will depend on the price that Real Madrid will make; Pau Torres is also on the list, the price of him is €65million for the release clause with Villarreal.
And the latest on Liverpool and Arsenal…
Speaking of Liverpool, no offer or attempt has ever been made for Kylian Mbappe. The French star is negotiating a new contract with Paris Saint-Germain but an agreement has not yet been reached: the president Al Khelaifi will insist, Real Madrid dreams of buying him this summer (very difficult, given the resistance of PSG) or the next but PSG does not intend to give up on Mbappe’s new contract.
Arsenal are still working on Ben White, the agreement with Brighton has yet to be finalized because the latest offer will need to be improved in the structure of the add-ons but there is optimism. As well as on the sale of Granit Xhaka, ever closer to AS Roma.
