The Toulon President has channelled his inner Lance Armstrong as the club defends itself against allegations of doping.
Many will remember Armstrong, at the belligerent height of his troubles with the US Anti-Doping Association, tweeting a picture of himself relaxing with his seven yellow jerseys.
Well, Mourad Boudjellal, the bankrolling owner and controversial President of Toulon, has cast himself as Armstrong in a picture posted by Toulon’s official Twitter account.
Lying alongside the club’s trophies, Boudjellal strikes the same pose as Armstrong. The original Armstrong picture is included too, just in case you didn’t get it…
Tel Lance Armstrong avec ses maillots jaunes, notre Président pose allongé sur un canapé avec les trophées du RCT... pic.twitter.com/mzGgw8yemj

The caption adds that “Like Lance Armstrong with his yellow jerseys, our President is lying on a sofa with the trophies of the RCT…”
It’s hardly the ‘sensible explanation’ that new signing Paul O’Connell was seeking from the club.
Remind us Mourad, how did that strategy work out for Lance?
