Tottenham have been handed a major injury blow as it has been announced that Yves Bissouma will undergo surgery on a fractured ankle.
Antonio Conte has been hit with some more bad injury news, after already having Hugo Lloris ruled out with injury the Italian manager will now have to do without their summer signing, Bissouma.
The 26-year-old joined Spurs in the summer for a deal worth £30 million from Brighton.
The Mali midfielder hasn’t featured as regularly as he would have hoped for in Conte’s team, due to the formation only requiring two midfielder’s he falls behind both Pierre-Emile Højbjerg and Rodrigo Bentacur in the pecking order.
But nonetheless, he is hugely important in the overall squad, especially with the congested fixture schedule coming up.
The club released a statement on Thursday announcing that he will undergo surgery and the time frame of his return will depend on its success.
We can confirm that Yves Bissouma is to undergo surgery on Friday to repair a stress fracture to his left ankle.
A timeframe for his return will be determined after surgery.
He will begin rehabilitation with our medical staff as soon as possible.
