Next Tottenham manager latest – three candidates in the frame

The season ends and the most important decision for all top clubs is the choice of the manager. Who will lead the projects of the best clubs in Europe? These days, the first pieces of the puzzle begin to move. If in the Bundesliga and Ligue 1 the situation is already largely defined, in the Premier League, Tottenham has yet to make a decision.

There was a meeting with Erik ten Hag two weeks ago, but the club has chosen to look for other candidates and Ten Hag extended his agreement with Ajax. Hansi Flick will not arrive because he will coach the German national team, while Nuno Espirito Santo has left Wolverhampton but is not on the Spurs list. The choice will be made shortly, there are three candidates on Daniel Levy’s list: Tottenham does not rule out surprises.

A decision will have to be made at Wolverhampton: Bruno Lage, former manager of Benfica, has already been contacted. Leicester want to move forward with Brendan Rodgers, no change in Manchester like in Liverpool where Jurgen Klopp was always protected by the club even in difficult times. Arsenal will continue with Mikel Arteta despite a very disappointing season, the decision is final.

Real Madrid’s Allegri talks, plus latest on Barcelona, Juventus and Inter Milan

In Italy, Inter will have a meeting with Antonio Conte to understand his ambitions: Conte wants to stay but only in the event that the club has a winning project, Stefano Pioli will remain the manager of AC Milan next year while Juventus will take a decision on Andrea Pirlo next week. So far there have been no contacts between Juventus and Zinedine Zidane despite rumours.

In Spain, there are great movements possible. Zidane has not yet made an official decision on his future, the feeling is that he can really leave the club. Real Madrid has been very clear: if Zizou wants to continue, the club will confirm it and Florentino Perez does not intend to sack him. In the event that Zidane instead wants to leave, Massimiliano Allegri has already had direct contact with Real Madrid and gives him priority as a candidate. Raul Gonzalez Blanco is also on the list, the race is open. But everything will depend on Zidane and his will. Ronald Koeman, on the other hand, has not lost confidence, he hopes to be able to stay at Barcelona to start the revolution of president Laporta but there are absolutely no certainties, on the contrary: the club’s board will decide in the next few days, it is not excluded that he may be sacked.

Aguero deal agreed, Kane to replace him?

Meanwhile, the transfer market is about to begin and Barça has already signed Sergio Aguero: the verbal agreement is reached, the signatures are on the way for a contract until June 2023. The situation is different for Harry Kane, who has publicly expressed his desire to leave Tottenham. The striker wants to leave and he has already communicated it to the club, he has no intention of listening to proposals for a new contract because he wants to play the Champions League right away. Tottenham president Daniel Levy continues to have no plans to negotiate for Kane, a very tough position also as Harry still has a two-year contract.

Chelsea confirmed the interest with Tuchel’s words but it is a difficult deal; Manchester City are by far the club most interested in Kane and want to open talks as soon as possible if Daniel Levy changes positions.

The Manchester City board also intends to offer a new contract to Raheem Sterling despite having had less space in Pep Guardiola’s starting eleven in recent months with Phil Foden’s exploit. The idea is to extend the current agreement that is still valid until 2023, Manchester City will soon talk about it with Sterling because the player is open to negotiate, but there are no agreements reached yet.

Liverpool closing in on first signing

Finally, Liverpool continue to work hard to close the Ibrahima Konaté deal from RB Leipzig. The release clause is valid, the club has awaited the final verdict on the Champions League issue to take action but already has an agreement with the French defender for a 5-year contract. It seems only a matter of time, then Konaté will become the first signing of Liverpool in the 2021/2022 version.
