Last week, United announced that they had made several key internal promotions, which included John Murtough becoming football director and Darren Fletcher taking on the role of technical director.
The news that both men were to take up roles solely focused on transfer and recruitment plans came about at the same time reports emerged suggesting Solskjaer was in line for a new contract.
However, despite being confirmed as the club’s latest director additions less than a week ago, according to a recent report from The Sun, the newly formed transfer team are set to plan a major squad overhaul soon.
It has been claimed that four key positions have been identified as a matter of priority – These includes a new striker, holding midfielder, right-back and centre-back.
However, in what would be a major spending spree, The Sun claim Edinson Cavani, Anthony Martial and David De Gea all face the axe in an attempt to free up some funds.
Although there is still some speculation over which right-back and centre-back the club may look to target, it has been claimed that Erling Haaland is the Red Devils’ preferred striking option, with West Ham’s Declan Rice also impressing.
